Giving your kid a CD player

We gave our now 8-year-old his own little boombox when he turned 6 so he could explore his own music without streaming. We gave him some of our old CDs to start and now we'll go to the record store so he can pick out (mostly used) CDs of his choice, with some guidance from us.

He plays his music in his room every night before gong to bed. Sometimes on a weekend afternoon we'll lay in his bed and I'll ask him to pick something for us to listen to together. The habit of listening to albums all the way through has been 100% ingrained.
